High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) cable systems seem to promise a number of fascinating advantages for bulk power transmission. The state of the art of the technology is presented, with the results of the work of the WG on HTS systems components and issues of specifications and testing. Many questions remain still open ,especially about its practical application and competivity. These issues will have to be studied later when feed-back experience will be available .
