CONTAINED IN VOL. 15.04, 2005Determines the load required to rupture a leather testspecimen having a 1/2-in. (12.7-mm) width. The load torupture divided by the original unstretched cross-sectionalarea gives the tensile strength. It may be used for alltypes of leather that are smooth and firm enough to permitaccurate thickness measurements.
