Applies to tunnelling machinery used for the construction of tunnels, shafts and other underground excavations. This describes the essential safety requirements for the design, installation, maintenance, and information for use of such machinery, covering reasonably foreseeable misuse of such machinery in that compliance with the requirements of clause 5 mitigates the risk arising from such misuse and monitoring for hazardous atmospheres within the confines of the tunneling machinery.
