This study investigates the reasons for and outcomes of the Australian Stock Exchange's (ASX) demutualisation process which culminated with the ASX listing on its own market on 14 October 1998. The study also reports on the whether the change in organisational structure has improved the ASX as a business and how corporate governance mechanisms have adapted after the changes in organisational structure.
