Proposes the adoption of IEC 598-1:1996, which specifies general requirements for the classification and marking of luminaires and for their mechanical and electrical construction, together with related tests. These requirements are for luminaires suitable for tungsten filament, tubular fluorescent and other discharge lamps on supply voltages not exceeding 1000 V. Proposed as an Australian/New Zealand Standard. A copy of IEC 598-1:1996 may be purchased from or viewed at any Standards Australia or Standards New Zealand office.
