Describes requirements for central venous catheters, supplied in the sterile condition. Intended for single use. Excludes catheters that are intended for introduction through a hollow needle. Includes definitions, general, size designation, patient end, shaft, eyes, resistance to occlusion and marking. An appendix explains a method for determination of flow rate of water through the catheter, and resistance to occlusion. Two figures are included.
