Specifies the composition, preparation, properties and application of two standard reference elastomers (SRE) made of acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR). These SRE are representative of heat-resistant, low sulfur-cured NBR grades such as are widely used in the automobile industry for seals in contact with petroleum products. Their composition and method of preparation ensure that their property profile agrees adequately with that of the material group they represent, and their simple mix structure yields reproducible results.
