Describes means of determining the breaking extension and breaking strength of cut strips of fabric coated with plastics or rubber, either dry or wet, using the following types of machine: constant rate of traverse, constant rate of load and constant rate of specimen extension. The results for a specific fabric may vary according to the procedure employed, especially when the fabric has a high extension at break. The method is not recommended to be use with products of which the base cloth is of plain knitted or weft construction.
