Outlines methods of preparing specimens and determining characteristic properties of SAN moulding materials, as defined in DIN 16775 Part 1, and other properties, with the aim of achieving reproducible results when such properties are measured. Properties of products made of such materials are influenced by type of moulding material used, component design and final condition of products, these in turn being dependent upon manufacturing conditions and type of subsequent treatment applied. Therefore, values obtained using test methods set out are only applicable to specimens of the form specified, prepared as specified, and not to specimens of different dimensions or prepared by different procedures.
