Explains tests for determining time to rupture of metal test pieces subjected throughout their duration to constant tensile load and temperature in single and multi-test-piece rupture testing machines for durations of 10 h to 100,000 h. Defines the properties to be determined and the terms used in describing tests and test pieces. Applies to uninterrupted and interrupted tests on pieces of circular and rectangular cross section, and on pieces of circular cross section having a notch and on test pieces from tubes.
