Gives requirements for materials for making cable joints in voltage range up to 1,000V a.c. and 1,500V d.c., in which cable insulation reinstatement is effected by cold pour resin compound and special-purpose insulating and sealing tapes and mastic, or heat-shrink components. Includes joints for cables with conductors of copper or aluminium with paper or polymeric insulation, which can have metallic protection against moisture in the form of extruded aluminium or lead sheaths, steel tape or wire, aluminium strip or wire armouring. Oversheath will normally be a polymeric or bituminized hessian covering. Joints are suitable for use when buried.
