Proposes the adoption, with minor Australian variations, of IEC 61619:1997 as an Australian Standard. IEC 61619 sets out a method for the determination of polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) concentration in non-halogenated insulating iquids by high-resolution capillary column gas chromatography using an electron capture detector. The method proposed gives total PCB content and is applicable to unused, reclaimed or used insulating liquids. Copies of IEC 61619 may be purchased from or viewed at any Standards Australia Office.
