Provides a written description of various surface finishes of a new steel blast cleaned using sand abrasive. Surface finishes described include white metal blast cleaned surface finish, near white metal blast cleaned surface finish, commercial blast cleaned surface finish, and brush off blast cleaned surface finish. A visual comparator that complements NACE Standard TM0170 is also available from NACE and provides a handy visual reference that can be used in the field. The visual comparator is comprised of two encapsulated steel panels illustrating the four surface preparations detailed above.
