This standard is included in DIN Handbook 117. The method specified serves to separate fatty acids and to determine the fatty acid content of oils and the content of fatty acid mixtures produced therefrom in the form of fatty acid methyl esters, by gas chromatography. The particular intention of this method is to separate the fatty acids according to the number of their carbon atoms (preferably 14 to 18) and in each case according to the number of the isolated double bonds contained in them (up to 3). Determination is also possible to dienes with conjugated double bonds, as are produced by dehydration of ricinoleic acid or by isomerization of isolated dienes.
Supersedes DIN 53782. (05/2000) DRAFT 2016 issued in April 2016. (04/2016)
