標準簡介

The objective of this Standard is to assist in the provision of a built environment that is legible to all people with particular attention to people who are blind or have low vision, through the provision of tactile signs. Other forms of complementary wayfinding including new technologies are not addressed by this Standard. The DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) format is a means of creating digital talking publications for people who wish to hear—and navigate—written material presented in an audible format. The advantage of producing a Standard in the DAISY format, is that it allows those using talking software to navigate through the document it in a way comparable to how a print or pdf Standard is used. For example, readers can examine the Standard by page, clause, section, or chapter, or use the table of contents. This compares to traditional talking book formats which only permit the user to “read” the document in a linear fashion. Standards Australia has also included critical accessibility features into both the PDF and DAISY format such as descriptions of each Figure. These can be accessed by relevant reading tools when using the Standard.
