The specifications given allow the force/extension diagrams such as those plotted during tear propagation, adhesion and peel tests to be evaluated in a uniform manner. The number of peaks shown in the diagram depends on the type of test and/or the quality of the material. Three different evaluation methods exist based on the number of these force peaks: evaluation method A for 1 to 5 force peaks; evaluation method B for 6 to 20 force peaks; evaluation method C for over 20 force peaks; Further details on the test apparatus, sample preparation, conditioning and test procedures are given in the relevant test standards. The evaluation methods described here shall only be used if they are specified in the corresponding test standards.
