CONTAINED IN VOLUME: 03.06, 03.05Describes parameters of sources used to excite the spectra in optical emission spectrochemical analysis. Research on sampling and excitation of metals has shown the critical parameter to control is the current through the specimen and circuit, even though the actual sampling mechanism is unknown. A specific current can be achieved by combinations of voltage, capacitance, inductance, and resistance, dependent on the values of all four. A practice that consists of component values only is not sufficient to properly describe an excitation source. Does not address all relevant safety concerns. It is the users responsibility to establish appropriate health/safety practices.
Supersedes FED STD 151.
