Relates to MEDICAL ELECTRON ACCELERATORS used for therapy purposes in human medical practice, including EQUIPMENT in which the selection and DISPLAY of operating parameters are automatically controlled by programmable electronic systems. Applies to accelerators which deliver a USEFUL BEAM of either X or ELECTRON RADIATION, with energies in the range 1 MeV to 50 MeV, and at maximum ABSORBED DOSE rates between 0.001 Gy.s to the power of -1 and 1 Gy.s to the power of minus of -1 at 1m from the RADIATION SOURCE and at NORMAL TREATMENT DISTANCES between 0.5m and 2m from the RADIATION SOURCE. Applies to EQUIPMENT operated under the jurisdiction of a QUALIFIED PERSON, and covers both manufacture and installation of MEDICAL ELECTRON ACCELERATORS.
