Specifies requirements for covered carbon and carbon manganese steel electrodes for manual metal-arc welding depositing weld metal with a maximum tensile strength of 650 N/square mm. Covers Information to be supplied by the purchaser (when ordering electrodes that meet the requirements of this standard): the number and date of the British Standard; whether a test certificate for the initial tests or for the most recent periodic check tests is required; the electrode classification, at least the toughness, strength and covering (STC) code and/or the manufacturer's trade designation; whether mechanical test certificates are required for each batch of electrodes supplied and whether any elements need to be controlled to specific limits and whether chemical analysis certificates are needed.
