Specifies requirements regarding design, installation, operation and maintenance of grease interceptor systems 1) ('interceptor systems', for short) as specified in DIN 4040 Part 1 which separate solid and liquid organic fats 2) and oils from waste water by the effect of gravity, thus preventing them from penetrating into the sewerage system. Such systems are deemed to be components of drainage systems as specified in the DIN 1986 standard series.
