Physical and magnetic characteristics of a 208-track magnetic tape cartridge, of 12,7 mm wide, to enable physical interchangeability of such cartridges between drives is defined.Recording signals quality is also specified. A format - entitledDigital Linear Tape 6 (DLT6) and a recording method, thereby permitting data interchange between drives. Together with a labelling standard, (ISO 1001 "Magnetic Tape Labelling") it allows full data interchange by means of such magnetic tape cartridges.
