Establishes requirements for constructional features and methods of assessment and test for Group II electrical apparatus with type N protection related to reducing the risk of ignition of an explosive atmosphere in a Zone 2 location. Not suitable for use in Zone 1 or 0 locations. Applicable to non-sparking electrical apparatus and to apparatus with parts or circuits producing arcs or sparks or having hot surfaces which, if unprotected, could be capable of igniting a surrounding explosive atmosphere. Covers constructional requirements, connection facilities and wiring, electric strength, clearances, separations and creepage distances, supplementary requirements for non-sparking apparatus, requirements for apparatus producing arcs, sparks or hot surfaces, marking and documentation.
