Describes a method of measuring the tensile strength, stretch at break, and the tensile energy absorption of paper and board using a test instrument operating with a constant rate of elongation. Also specifies methods for calculating the tensile index, the tensile energy absorption index and the breaking length. Applies to all papers and board with the exception of papers with high elongation and corrugated board, but may be applied to the components of such board. Covers references, definitions, principle, apparatus. sampling, conditioning, preparation of test pieces, procedure, expression of results, precision and the test report.
